Notice Board
16 Febraury 2025
Welcome to the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, MD for the Heritage Regatta. We are situtated on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland, racing on the Tred Avon and Choptank rivers. We welcome the Chesapeake Bay Log Canoes.
Please note, for the safety of the sailors and canoes, as well as offering fair sailing from the Race committee, the OA has changed the World Sailing definition of hull to the following, listed in the Heritage Sailing instructions, under Rules 1.3 as;
1.3. As used in the definition of “Zone” in the RRS, the word “hull” is replaced by “hull and equipment in normal position,” and includes boomkin, boards, bowsprit and jib club in sailing position as overall length of hull.
This includes the start/finish line and Mark-Room distances to be judged by the same definition. This is rule change is not available for protested, as it was unanimously agreed to by all the eligible canoe owners, and the four OAs that managed log canoe racing in 2023. This rule has been applied to promote Race Coimmittee fair line calling, safety at the marks and fair sailing.
Please register early.
Please be advised, the speed limit in Oxford begins a mile out of town and it strictly enforced at 25MPH.
Please check back frequently as this is the Offical Notice Board.
