jr. sailing program scope & sequence

The following sailing curriculum scope and sequence lists the outcomes of each class and relates the progression of knowledge from level-to-level. Coaches create daily lesson plans to instruct and evaluate mastery of knowledge and skill. Class pace is influenced by the length of a class (2, 4, 6, 7, or 8-weeks) and by the progress of each junior cohort. Each junior’s progress is recorded and measured according to the standards (Basic / Proficient / Advanced). Coaches work to help every junior move to the proficient and advanced level. A folder is maintained for each student during the program and contains documented junior success and the materials that coaches provide from day-to-day (lesson handouts, regatta NORs and reports, etc.). This information is regularly evaluated by the program director and is used to create an end-of-summer report to recognize each junior's accomplishments and to make recommendations to further excel.
